Petra prayer groups are a non-denominational, intergenerational Christian ministry started in Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas in 2003 for the purpose of encouraging families through prayer and Bible study.  One hour a week, women pray for their families and encourage each other as wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters. Earnest prayer and transparency allow us to be joined together in unity as we pray for one another.

"Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.  For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."  Matthew 18:19-20

Many families are under attack from the world and the enemy. Our goal is to dedicate our families to unity in God's purpose for each member and His attributes in our lives. Healing from the wounds of daily life and freedom to be the kinds of families that God desires. Strength comes in gathering together as one at the foot of the Throne of God where we can receive mercy, grace, and help.

Christ provided an outline for how to pray, the LORD's prayer. However, there are no right or wrong ways to pray as long as we approach the Throne of Grace with a sincere and humble heart. Your heavenly Father desires for you to draw near to His heart for all your desires. We have two documents that provide a format that we have found to be a blessing. The Petra Prayer Guide provides a set of points your groups must agree to before starting. There are two additional documents, our Petra Prayer Path, (revised in 2021) or a previous version, Petra Prayer Outline, which are available to help keep your group on task and to help document prayer requests for your individual prayer time.

Romans 12:2 says, "be transformed by the renewing of your mind." The evil one is always trying to instill doubt and discouragement. Part of our Petra prayer time is devoted to meditation on scripture. Keeping your mind focused on Truth will help dispel satan's lies. Having encouraging Bible verses at hand will allow you to remind yourself of God's promises and refocus your thoughts on what your heavenly Father desires for you.  Petra Scripture Meditation Cards come in two formats.  These are also available on the Connect page.
